Locking your Screen as root | Fedora | Ubuntu | RHEL | Linux
Hello,
If you are root lover and you want to Protect your root screen with password So you just need to follow few steps and you are done.
Trick to Password Protect your root screen in Linux, Fedora, RHEL and Ubuntu Distribution Follow below steps :-
For Fedora Linux & RHEL ( Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 )
1) Open Terminal. ( Application -> System Tools -> Terminal )
2) Make sure that you have installed RPMFusion repository for Fedora, and RPMForge repository for RHEL.
RPMFusion Link :- http://rpmfusion.org/
RPMForge Linl :- http://dag.wieers.com/
3) Execute Command yum -y install xlockmore
4) To lock your screen Click on Applications -> Graphics -> Xlock
5) That’s it. You are done
For Ubuntu Linux (Not sure about ubuntu to work but sure you can give it try):-
1) Open Terminal. ( Application -> Accessories -> Terminal )
2) I think this package is available in Ubuntu’s default repository.
3) Execute Command apt-get install xlockmore
4) To lock your screen Click on Applications -> Graphics -> Xlock
5) That’s it. You are done
To make this very easy you can create KeyBoard Shortcut for the same.

awesome thanks. can’t believe xlock is not a default
Thank you for a great tip. For Ubuntu 10.10 Maverick, the * does not work. The command to download xlock is now: “apt-get install xlockmore”
