You could try using –skip-broken to work around the problem
You could try running: package-cleanup –problems
    package-cleanup –dupes
    rpm -Va –nofiles –nodigest
The program package-cleanup is found in the yum-utils package.

You could try using –skip-broken to work around the problem
You could try running: package-cleanup –problems
    package-cleanup –dupes
    rpm -Va –nofiles –nodigest
The program package-cleanup is found in the yum-utils package.

    Hello,

Sure I will try to help as much as i can.

It has nothing to do with RHN Registration, So forget about it.

This is because you are trying to run VLC Root and vlc not allowed to run as root user. I request you to login as some other user and then try to run vlc it should work.

Let me know if still face any queries.

  • Ch Simhachalam says:

After running the script as root, nothing happens when I press Applications->Sounds & Video->VLC media player. Mine is RHEL 5.4 64bit without RHN registration. I am new to linux and don’t understand packages. Kindly guide me what to do.

  • Tejas Barot says:

    Hello,

This is because you have installed CentOS 6.1 and This script performed on 6.0 so that’s the difference. Right now I am busy so will test and will let you know for the same.

  • Dave says:

I just installed Centos 6.1 on a new laptop. I tried running your script and received the following error:
You cannot continue, CentOS release 6.1 (Final), CentOS Linux version must be 6.x

I guess the script was unable to locate the required opencv rpm package or may be the package is not being provided by the installed repositories.

I am still unable to install vlc media player so It would be apprecitiated if you make the script to be worked.
