I have already shared a How to for Locking root screen in Ubuntu / Red Hat / Fedora with xlockmore but when i tried the same it is saying me that xlockmore is no more available, So Simplest way to lock screen i have started find for alternative of xlockmore and I got a very nice alternative of xlockmore in fact it is very good thn Xlock more ! but remember this alternative i have found is only for Ubuntu and it is only for LightDM !
Please perform following steps to Install root Screen locker on Ubuntu 13.10 (Saucy Salamander)
I have performed this Procedure from root user, You need to be root or user with sudo rights for Installing and Adding repositories :-
1. Check LightDM Version :-
root@tejasbarot-linux-blog:~# lightdm --version
if you have 1.7.5-1.7.9 version, please don’t install it.
2. If you have latest version then above You can now proceed further and Add repository :-
root@tejasbarot-linux-blog:~# sudo add-apt-repository ppa:light-locker/release
3. Once you are done with adding repository, Update repositories database :-
root@tejasbarot-linux-blog:~# apt-get update
4. Now It’s time to Install LightDM-Locker :-
root@tejasbarot-linux-blog:~# apt-get install light-locker
5. Once Light Locker Installation gets finished, You can Now Lock your screen with Root.
root@tejasbarot-linux-blog:~# light-locker-command -l
6. To make it more simpler, You can create a Keyboard Shortcut to Lock the Screen Immediately .
Hope this helps you all.
