Changing LDAP User’s Password Web-Based / 389-ds / Redhat-ds / Fedora-DS / LDAP

Hello,

This article will show you how to change password of LDAP Users.

In This Article, I have demonstrated that How to change your Password for those users which are in 389-ds or Redhat-ds.

This is very simple you just need to change few parameters and You will able to change password of Ldap users from 389-ds.

Note :- If you have not Customized LDAP Attributes or Access Rights for Changing Password then it will work, I have Successfully tested the same on RHEL / CentOS 5.x / CentOS 6.x / RHEL 6.x and 389-ds.

Perform Following steps for the same.

Step 1:- Make Sure your LDAP Configured and You have correct Suffix ( i.e dc=tejasbarot,dc=com )

Step 2 :- Make Sure php-ldap Package is installed.

[root@tejas-barot-linux-support-ahmedabad ~]# yum install php-ldap

Step 3 :- Download the Following PHP Script, Thanks to the Original Script I have Modified Suffix for Understanding Purpose.

[root@tejas-barot-linux-support-ahmedabad ~]# wget -c http://www.tejasbarot.com/Scripts/ldap_pass_change.phps

Steps 4:- Now Rename the Script from ldap_pass_change.phps to ldap_pass_change.php

Step 5 :- Now Modify the Suffix in .php file, Open PHP File and Modify 3rd Line which Contains $dn

Change $dn 
from 
$dn = "dc=tejasbarot,dc=com"
TO
$dn = "dc=your,dc=suffix"
Save and Exit from File

Step 6:- Put this Script to your WebRoot Directory (i.e. /var/www/html/ )

Step 7:- Make Sure That PHP Script is executable by your Webserver through URL (i.e. http://ldap.tejasbarot.com or http://localhost/ldap_pass_change.php or http://192.168.1.10/ldap_pass_change.php )

You will able to see Following Screen :-

Howto: Install VirtualBox 4.2.10 on RHEL / CentOS 6.x / Linux

Dear All,

VirtualBox is an Open Source Cross Virtualization Software, By Installing VirtualBox You can Install Multiple Guest Operating Systems.

I am sharing this Howto to Install VirtualBox 4.2.10 on Linux ( RHEL  and CentOS 6.x ).

By Following Instructions You will able to Install and Run VirtualBox 4.2.10 on Linux.

Perform Following steps to Install VirtualBox on Linux | CentOs | RHEL 6.x

1. You need to be root to perform this Howto.

2.  Configure Repositories :-

# Download and Install EPEL Repository 

[root@linux-support-ahmedabad-tejas-barot ~]# wget http://dl.fedoraproject.org/pub/epel/6/x86_64/epel-release-6-8.noarch.rpm

[root@linux-support-ahmedabad-tejas-barot ~]# rpm -Uvh epel-release-6-8.noarch.rpm

# Configure VirtualBox Repository

[root@linux-support-ahmedabad-tejas-barot ~]# cd /etc/yum.repos.d/ 

[root@linux-support-ahmedabad-tejas-barot yum.repos.d]# wget http://download.virtualbox.org/virtualbox/rpm/rhel/virtualbox.repo

[root@linux-support-ahmedabad-tejas-barot yum.repos.d]# cd

3. Installing Dependencies for VirtualBox

[root@linux-support-ahmedabad-tejas-barot ~]# yum install binutils  gcc kernel-headers kernel-devel make libgomp glibc-headers glibc-devel patch  dkms qt

4. Finally Lets Start Installing VirtualBox 4.2.10

[root@linux-support-ahmedabad-tejas-barot ~]# yum install VirtualBox-4.2

5. That’s It.

Howto: Installing BCM43224 Wireless Linux Drivers on RHEL / CentOS / 6.x / 32-Bit / 64-Bit (x86_64)

Hello Everyone,

Today I got a Laptop of Dell 1558 with CentOS 6.2 32-Bit Installed, Broadcom Wireless ( BCM43224 ) was not Installed by default.

So I have downloaded Drivers and Made it work on the same. This Procedure is for Fresh Installation of Broadcom Driver. 

Sharing the same HowTo, Document and Source files So you can easily install BCM43224 on CentOS 6.x

I have tried this on CentOS 6.2 32-Bit but same method will work for RHEL and CentOS 6.x / 32-Bit / 64-Bit architecture.

I have used Drivers which is available from their Official Website.

Please follow below steps to make Broadcom ( BCM43224 ) work on CentOS 6.x :-

1. You need to be a root to Install Module.

2. Now Execute Command to Install Packages which requires to Compile and Build Module.

[root@linux-support-ahmedabad-tejas-barot ~]# yum install gcc* compat-*

3. Now Make Directory and Download Drivers into that Directory.

[root@linux-support-ahmedabad-tejas-barot ~]# mkdir driver_bcm43224

[root@linux-support-ahmedabad-tejas-barot driver_bcm43224]#

3. Now Download Broadcom BCM43224 Drivers for CentOS / RHEL / 6.x / 32-Bit / x86_64 :-

For 32-Bit :- 

[root@linux-support-ahmedabad-tejas-barot driver_bcm43224]#  wget -c http://www.tejasbarot.com/RPMs/downloads/hybrid-portsrc_x86_32-v5_100_82_112.tar.gz

For 64-Bit :- 

[root@linux-support-ahmedabad-tejas-barot driver_bcm43224]# wget -c http://www.tejasbarot.com/RPMs/downloads/hybrid-portsrc_x86_64-v5_100_82_112.tar.gz

4. Now Extract Drivers.

For 32-Bit :- 

[root@linux-support-ahmedabad-tejas-barot driver_bcm43224]# tar zxvf hybrid-portsrc_x86_32-v5_100_82_112.tar.gz

For 64-Bit :- 

[root@linux-support-ahmedabad-tejas-barot driver_bcm43224]# tar zxvf hybrid-portsrc_x86_64-v5_100_82_112.tar.gz

5. Now Let’s Start Compile and Install Drivers For 32-Bit and 64-Bit.

To Compile :- 

[root@linux-support-ahmedabad-tejas-barot driver_bcm43224]# make

To Install Driver :- 

[root@linux-support-ahmedabad-tejas-barot driver_bcm43224]# cp wl.ko /lib/modules/`uname -r`/kernel/net/wireless/

6. Execute Following Commands to Initialize and Make it Work  :-

[root@linux-support-ahmedabad-tejas-barot driver_bcm43224]# depmod

[root@linux-support-ahmedabad-tejas-barot driver_bcm43224]# modprobe wl

8. For Final Testing, Reboot your System once and Check. ( It will work without rebooting system).

7. That’s it, Now “Click NetworkManager Icon” and You will able to See Available Wireless Networks if any.

Howto: Installing WINE on RHEL / CentOS 5.x / 6.x | 32-bit | 64-bit | x86_64 | Linux

Hello All,

There are so many request from blog visitors to write Article on Wine Installation. Thanks for your request.

This article is for Install Wine on CentOS and RHEL 5.x and 6.x easily. Actually i have planned this article through script but due to shortage of time and now a days busy too, So Couldn’t implement complete script so Demonstrating manual how to over here.

I hope you guys will like the same.

Like VLC installation on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.x and 6.x and CentOS 5.x and 6.x its bit complicated and So much dependencies issues are there. So To make installation a bit easier and without too much headache i am writing this article.

This HOWTO performed on Blank RHEL / CentOS 5.x and 6.x if you are running with Latest or OLD RPMs you might face issue of Dependencies. Do it at your own risk wherever you are performing this howto.

To Install WINE on RHEL/CentOS 5.x and 6.x, Perform following Howto.

For RHEL / CentOS 6 32-Bit and 64-Bit (x86_64) :-

1. You need to be root to perform rest steps.

2. This step is must otherwise you might face dependencies issues. Now Lets take a backup of your Original Repository. By Executing Following Command :-
[root@wine-on-linux-ahmedabad-tejas-barot ~]# mkdir /repobackup
[root@wine-on-linux-ahmedabad-tejas-barot ~]#mv /etc/yum.repos.d/*.repo /repobackup/

3. Now Clean Previously Cached Repository by Executing Following command :-
[root@wine-on-linux-ahmedabad-tejas-barot ~]# yum clean all

4. Now Download and Install EPEL and Tejas Barot’s RPM for Wine to Install Wine on RHEL / CentOS 6.x.

To Download RPMs :-
[root@wine-on-linux-ahmedabad-tejas-barot ~]# cd /tmp
[root@wine-on-linux-ahmedabad-tejas-barot tmp]# wget http://www.tejasbarot.com/RPMs/epel-release-6-7.noarch.rpm
[root@wine-on-linux-ahmedabad-tejas-barot tmp]# wget http://www.tejasbarot.com/RPMs/wine-install-tejas-barot-2.0-2.noarch.rpm

To Install RPMs :-

[root@wine-on-linux-ahmedabad-tejas-barot tmp]# rpm -ivh –force epel-release-6-7.noarch.rpm
[root@wine-on-linux-ahmedabad-tejas-barot tmp]# rpm -ivh –force wine-install-tejas-barot-2.0-2.noarch.rpm
[root@wine-on-linux-ahmedabad-tejas-barot tmp]# cd

5. To install wine and its Packages execute following command :-

[root@wine-on-linux-ahmedabad-tejas-barot ~]# yum install –nogpgcheck wine*

When it ask for”YES”and”NO”Please go ahead with your choice.

6. That’s it, You are done now. Wine Installed Successfully.

7. Now Revert your previous repositories. by Following commands
[root@wine-on-linux-ahmedabad-tejas-barot ~]# rm -rf /etc/yum.repos.d/*.repo
[root@wine-on-linux-ahmedabad-tejas-barot ~]# mv /repobackup/*.repo /etc/yum.repos.d/

8. That’s It now. You have installed wine on RHEL / CentOS 6x Successfully and Your Previous Repositories also reverted back.

For RHEL / CentOS 5.x 32-Bit and 64-Bit (x86_64) :-

1. You need to be root to perform rest steps.

2. This step is must otherwise you might face dependencies issues. Now Lets take a backup of your Original Repository. By Executing Following Command :-
[root@wine-on-linux-ahmedabad-tejas-barot ~]# mkdir /repobackup
[root@wine-on-linux-ahmedabad-tejas-barot ~]#mv /etc/yum.repos.d/*.repo /repobackup/

3. Now Clean Previously Cached Repository by Executing Following command :-

5. To install wine and its Packages execute following command :-

[root@wine-on-linux-ahmedabad-tejas-barot ~]# yum install –nogpgcheck wine*

Howto Access / Mount / MAP Windows Share from Linux | RHEL / CentOS 5.x | RHEL / CentOS 6.x | Fedora 17 | Ubuntu 12.10 | Ubuntu 12.04 LTS

This Article will show you to Access Windows Shares from Linux. You can Perform this commands to Almost all Linux like ( Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Ubuntu Desktop Edition, Ubuntu Server Edition, CentOS and Of Course Fedora).

This is very basic Howto but this can be very helpful and You can achive this with some simple steps.

Accessing Windows share is called a Mount in Linux Terms. In This Howto and in Section 2 You will able to make that share Permanent available to Linux it is like MAP Drive of Windows from Linux.

Requirements for this Howto :

1. You need to be root to execute this commands, To Access from GUI “root” access is not needed.

2. Package cifs-utils must installed, If its not installed You can Install it by following command

=> For Ubuntu

#sudo apt-get install cifs-utils

=> For RHEL/CentOS

#yum install cifs-utils

Please Perform following steps to Map / Mount / Access windows share directory from Linux

Following topics covered in this article :-

1) Mount Windows Share from Linux ( Temporary ).

2) Mount Windows Share from Linux ( Permanent, Available on re-boot).

3) Accessing Windows Share Directory using Linux GUI.

So Now Let’s Come to the poing and Start Executing Commands

1) Mount Windows Share from Linux ( Temporary ) :-

By Performing this Section you will able to mount windows shared directory from Linux but that will be on Temporary basis once you re-boot your system then it will not available. So Take a note of this.

root@tejasbarot-linux-ahmedabad:~ # mount -t cifs //<windows-ip-address>/<share-name> /<local/mount/point> -o username=username,password=password

For Example :-

root@tejasbarot-linux-ahmedabad:~ # mount -t cifs //192.168.1.3/share /mnt -o username=tejasbarot,password=linuxahmedabad

2) Mount Windows Share from Linux ( Permanent, Available on re-boot).

By Performing this Section you will able to mount windows shared directory from Linux on Permanent Basis, Even if you re-boot then it will be available, But Of-Course Windows share must available.

First of all take backup of /etc/fstab file so if anything goes wrong you can always recover.

=>  To backup /etc/fstab file execute following command.

root@tejasbarot-linux-ahmedabad:~ #cp /etc/fstab /etc/fstab.original

=> Open /etc/fstab with your Favourite text editor. I am using VIM as my editor.

root@tejasbarot-linux-ahmedabad:~ # vim /etc/fstab

=> Now Insert Following entry

//<windows-ip-address>/<share-name> /<local/mount/point> cifs username=username,password=password 0 0

For Example ( Entry Should look like below ) :-

//192.168.1.3/share /mnt cifs username=tejasbarot,password=linuxahmedabad 0 0

Save and Exit from File. To save in VIM ( Press ESC and :wq and ENTER )

=> To Test Your Entry is correct or not Execute following command :-

root@tejasbarot-linux-ahmedabad:~ # mount -a

No Error should be there once you execute this command.

=> Now You can Confirm by “df -h”

3) Accessing Windows Share Directory using Linux GUI.

This is the easiest way to Access Windows Share from Linux.

If You are Using Unity or GNOME 3.0 then you can search for “Connect to Network/Server” and Window will open and If You are using GNOME Classic then You can Perform steps as per below screen shot.

=> Click on “Places” -> Click on “Connect to Network/Server

=> Select “Windows Share when Next Screen Appears

=> When Next Screen Comes up,Provide Details of “Windows Share” and click on Connect.

  • Server : IP Address/Name of System where windows share is available (Only this field is required, You can skip all other fields).
  • Port : Provide If only connecting to Non-Default Port.
  • Type: Windows Share
  • Share : Share Name
  • Folder : Folder Inside Share
  • Domain Name : If You are in Domain Environment then Provide Domain Name.
  • Username : Username Who has Share Access
  • Password : Password of User which you have provided above.

That’s It. By above three methods you can Map / Access / Mount Windows Share from Linux and You can even Make it Permanent same like MAP Drive.

Howto: Install Adobe Flash Player on 64-Bit ( x86_64) Linux | RHEL 6.x | CentOS 6.x

This post will show you that How to Install Adobe Flash Player on Linux 64-Bit Architecture for RHEL ( Red Hat Enterprise Linux )6.x and CentOS 6.x.

In This Post Adobe Flash Player Version is :- 11.1.102.55

Previously Adobe Flash Player was available in BETA version, So At that time you have to download .tar.gz file and then you have to copy/paste it manually to Plugin Directory. In This post we will install it using RPM as release is available.

I have tested this Adobe Flash Player on RHEL 6.1.

DO IT AT YOUR OWN RISK.

To Install Adobe Flash Player on RHEL/CentOS 6.x, Please Follow below method :-

1) Close Your FireFox Before Following any step.

2) You have to be root  to perform this Howto.
[linux-ahmedabad@tejas-barot-linux-ahmedabad ~]$ su –

3) Now Download Adobe Flash Player 11.1.102.55 as per your preferred Method :-

To Download it Via Firefox Just Click Here :-

http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/pdc/11.1.102.55/flash-plugin-11.1.102.55-release.x86_64.rpm

Method 2:-

To Download it from Command-Line Execute Following Command :-

[root@tejas-barot-linux-ahmedabad ~]# wget http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/pdc/11.1.102.55/flash-plugin-11.1.102.55-release.x86_64.rpm

4) Now Change your Directory Where you have download Adobe Flash Player RPM :-

5) Now Execute Following Command to Install Adobe Flash Player :-

[root@tejas-barot-linux-ahmedabad ~]# rpm -Uvh flash-plugin-11.1.102.55-release.x86_64.rpm

6) Now Open Firefox and check websites like For Example :- www.youtube.com

Howto:Installing VLC Media Player / RHEL 6.x / CentOS 6.x 32 bit / 64 bit ( x86_64) / Using Script / Linux

I  got huge response from you guys for My Previous VLC installation script on RHEL 5.x, So Many Users requested me to post Same Kind of Script for RHEL 6 and I am done with it. I am Very thankful to each and every user who have given so nice response to my that post. I hope they will enjoy this post too

Previously I have written Script to Install VLC Player on RHEL 5.x 32 bit for Automatic Installation, You can say a script which i have designed to install VLC Player Very Quickly and without any dependecy problems.

This time I have written script to install VLC Player on RHEL 6.x and CentOS 6.x for Both Architecture ( 32bit and X86_64 (64Bit). I hope this script helps you.

To Make it more simple I have created Own RPM So This time there will be 1 additional step that You have to follow.

VLC Media Player Installation

Note :- This script is tested in Local Environment, Think many times before you execute on Production/Local/Anywhere, Do it at your OWN RISK.

Following things must exist on your Computer/Linux to execute this script:-

=> Direct Working Internet Connection or Yum Should run from Terminal. If you are using Internet connection with Proxy then it will be problematic for you.

=> RHEL 6.x and CentOS 6.x must be installed with 32bit or X86_64 Arch.

This time couple of addition steps to make it more simple. So This time VLC Installation in 7 Steps.

Perform Following Steps to Install VLC Player on RHEL 6.x / Cent OS 6.x on 32 or 64Bit :-

1) You have to be root to execute this script.

2) Download RPM ( Auto VLC Redhat Centos6) which I have specially created for VLC Installation Script , You can use RPMs for CentOS 6 too.Click on Following link to Download RPM for Your Architecture :-

32 bit Users click on this link :- http://www.tejasbarot.com/RPMs/avrc6-tejas-barot-linux-0.1.0-1.el6.i686.rpm
64 bit Users click on this link :- http://www.tejasbarot.com/RPMs/avrc6-tejas-barot-linux-0.1.0-1.el6.x86_64.rpm

3) Execute Following Commands as per your Respective architecture :-

For 32 Bit Architecture :-

[root@linux-support-tejas-barot ~]# rpm -ivh avrc6-tejas-barot-linux-0.1.0-1.el6.i686.rpm

For 64(X86_64) bit Architecture :-

[root@linux-support-tejas-barot ~]# rpm -ivh avrc6-tejas-barot-linux-0.1.0-1.el6.x86_64.rpm

4) Download VLC Installation Script for RHEL6 and CentOS 6 ,

5) Execute following Command where you have downloaded the script.

[root@linux-support-tejas-barot ~]# chmod +x vlc6-installation.sh

6). Now Execute your script by two ways mentioned below

[root@linux-support-tejas-barot ~]# sh vlc6-installation.sh
 OR
 [root@linux-support-tejas-barot ~]# ./vlc6-installation.sh

7) Once you Execute it will ask you 4 Options to Install as per your OS and Architecture and 5th Option for Exit Select Option as per your OS and Architecture

Press (R32) to Install VLC on RHEL 6.x on 32bit
Press (R64) to Install VLC on RHEL 6.x on 64bit

Press (C32) to Install VLC on CentOS 6.x on 32bit
Press (C64) to Install VLC on CentOS 6.x on 64bit
Press (E) to Exit anytime

Please Enter your Selection: <Put Your Option Here and Press Enter>

 

8) Remember you have to be normal user to run VLC Player, You cannot Run VLC Player as root.
